I'm spending about 6 weeks this summer studying abroad at St. John's College, Oxford. What are some of the "must see" sights or things to do (anything from museums to restaurants/nightlife) in Oxford? Does anyone have any tips that would be helpful to know in advance?

Punting down the river Cherwell is fun. (Kinda like gondola's in Venice).

Nightlife in Oxford is pretty good, lots of clubs and bars, every kind of music you can think of, live bands, great house(techno DJ's), poetry and comedy clubs all within walking

distance of the city center.

Classical music & opera's and great theatre shows.

Countryside pubs are nice to visit at the weekend and most have great food.

You can also get a train or bus to London.

If you are into ancient Egyptian artifacts, one of the worlds finest collections is at the Ashmolean museum at Oxford. The university maintains a number of museums and galleries in addition to its libraries. The Ashmolean Museum, founded in 1683, is the oldest museum in the UK, and the oldest university museum in the world. It holds significant collections of art and archeology, including works by Michelangelo.
